Base Oil

Description

Adipates are esters and salts of adipic acid that are used in lubricants and greases, as well as other products. They are designed for low temperature applications, such as 2/4 stroke engine lubricants and hydraulic fluids. Adipates have low viscosity, low pour points, high flash points, and good oxidation stability. They also have good solvency and detergency properties.

Here are some examples of adipates used in lubricants:

  • Ditridecyl adipate (DTDA)

An adipate diester that can be used as a synthetic Group V base oil. It can also be added to Group III and Group IV lubricants to improve solubility, reduce varnish, and extend fluid life. DTDA performs well in both low and high temperature conditions, and has high viscosity indices and low volatility. It's useful in applications such as compressor and engine oils, hydraulic fluid, metalworking fluids, and greases.

  • Lubricit DIDA

An adipate diester fluid that's used as a synthetic base oil for formulations that require low temperature flow properties
